Helpful Website Tips

When using these helpful website tips, you can be assured that visitors to your site will know exactly what you are offering.

I’ve reviewed hundreds of websites for clients. The most significant problem I see is a lack of clarity about what exactly it is you’re selling. Sites are so flashy these days and use words that sound like AI and don’t make an emotional connection with potential clients. Let’s say that you write a post on Facebook about your business with a link to your homepage, but when viewers arrive, they have no idea what you’re offering. So, please, clearly explain what you offer, what solution you offer to a client’s “problem” and how they will benefit from working with you.

Think of the opening content on your website’s homepage as your brand bio – or your 15-second elevator pitch. Stats indicate that you only have about four seconds to make an impression on visitors to your site.

Here’s my brand bio, and I believe these two sentences clearly let site visitors know what I offer.

As a certified digital marketing strategist, I analyze business websites and social profiles to identify and fix gaps in a client’s marketing strategy. When filled, these gaps will help your ideal client find you online, improving your engagement, impressions, and conversions.

To create your brand bio: answer these helpful homepage tips and questions first and then construct a one-sentence statement on your home page.

  • What do you sell? (I’m a digital marketing strategist.)
  • How does it solve your client’s problem? (I find problems.)
  • Who exactly is your product targeted toward? (businesses)
  • Why should they work with you (or who are you)? (I’m certified and have years of experience.)
  • What are the benefits of working with you? (Engagement and conversions will improve.)
  • How do they reach you? (By tapping the call-to-action button)

The clearer you make this statement, the more likely you will reach your ideal client. Don’t some of your favorite brands have a personality you like and don’t come across as an AI robot? Be unique, stand out, be honest, be relatable, and be honest and transparent. Be clear and concise, not cute and clever, and above all, strive to make an emotional connection.

I reviewed a website homepage that didn’t have a single call-to-action on the home page. That results in a high “bounce rate,” meaning people visit your page, don’t see what they’re looking for, and they “bounce” off.

When you use these Helpful Website Tips, not only will the likelihood of your ideal client finding you, but these tips will also help improve your search ranking.

Now that you’ve fine-tuned the front end of your website, let’s get to work on search engine optimization (SEO) on the back end of your site.
